"Greening The Desert to Feeding Victoria," June 24th, Victoria BC
It has been over 30 years since the design discipline of permaculture was first conceived. During that time, permaculture design and its practitioners have demonstrated that we can live healthy, happy and fulfilled lives, while simultaneous enriching and supporting a healthy environment. Regardless of climate, location or resources, permaculture design can be applied to deal with our most degraded landscapes and bring them back into productive health. One of the most note worthy examples of permaculture's success is "Greening The Desert," in the Dead Sea Valley of Jordan. This event will kick off with a screening of a short video documenting this agricultural success story. As a follow up Jesse Lemieux will share his direct experience with this project, the lessons learned and how each of us can apply permaculture design to proactively meet the challenges of our ever more fragile, energy, food, and financial systems. We will wrap up the evening with an internet video Q&A with Geoff Lawton, director of the Permaculture Research Institute and visionary behind "Greening The Desert"...
